Old-web citizenship

seed planted 7 July 2026 #web

This site tries to be a good citizen of the older, quieter web. Concretely, that means duties:

Permalinks never break. A URL is a promise. If someone bookmarks a note at one in the morning, that address should still answer in ten years.

RSS everywhere. Every wing of this site has a feed, so you can subscribe to exactly the slice you care about and never be asked for an email address. There is no newsletter, no popup, no analytics script watching you read.

Links go outward. A blogroll is planned — a list of sites I actually read, because the personal web only works if its houses point at each other. Guestbooks and 88×31 buttons are under consideration, unironically.

None of this is nostalgia. It is just what a site owes its readers when it wants strangers, not traffic.
